Commercial use means using Blip for activities that generate profit or commercial value for you, your company, your partners, or your clients. This includes freelance work, professional services, projects within for-profit organizations, as well as government-related activities.

To give you a clearer picture, here are some examples of what we consider commercial activities:

  • Collaborating on media projects for commercials or advertisements
  • Producing feature films, music albums, or professional content
  • Creating sponsored or paid content for media platforms, like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Patreon
  • Sharing content for sponsored collaborations or influencer marketing
  • Creating and selling digital products like eBooks, presets, or templates
  • Sharing design files with team members for professional projects
  • Submitting drafts to editors for commercial publications
  • Transferring marketing assets to commercial collaborators
  • Managing project files for freelance work
  • Sending business documents to clients or partners
  • Sharing media as part of a paid consulting service

If your work involves these types of activities, the Business plan ensures you have the license, the sending bandwidth, and the support to keep your projects running smoothly.

On the other hand, non-commercial use means using Blip for activities that don’t involve financial or commercial gain. These activities are typically personal, educational, and community-focused.

Here are some examples of non-commercial activities:

  • Sending files and media between your personal devices
  • Organizing a file library for a personal passion project
  • Sharing trip photos with family and friends
  • Receiving personal wedding photos from a photographer
  • Sharing hobby projects with friends for fun
  • Sharing creative work with friends for feedback or critique
  • Collaborating on school projects with classmates
  • Contributing to open-source projects
  • Sending documents for volunteer organizations
  • Organizing files for a non-profit fundraiser

If your activities fit within non-commercial use only, the Community plan offers all the essentials you need. While this plan is free, it still costs money, time, and effort to operate. If you rely on it, consider making a donation to support it.

Blip doesn’t have systems in place to track or analyze what you’re sending. This is an honor system that relies on you to acknowledge when Blip supports your professional efforts.

If Blip is helping you gain a financial advantage or support your business, we kindly ask that you upgrade to the Business plan. Supporting Blip ensures the tool continues to improve and remain available for everyone. Your contribution makes a difference!

Internet sending over Blip’s high-speed relay is limited depending on your plan. While Business users can send as much as you need, always at full speed, Community users might encounter monthly data caps and reduced speeds when sending files. These measures help manage costs and maintain a balanced experience across our relay infrastructure.

Receiving over Blip’s relay is not limited, but you can’t receive files faster than someone can send them to you. This means that if you’re a Business user who’s receiving files from a Community user, the transfer speed is limited by their Community plan.

Sending and receiving over local networks are always unlimited.

The Business plan is currently tied to your individual email on Blip. If multiple people in your business use Blip, each person will need to subscribe separately to gain access to a commercial license and unlimited sending.

If you’d like to manage multiple users and pay for everyone with a single bill, please email us. We’re actively exploring ways to make Blip even better for teams and would be happy to work with you to find the best solution for your needs.

Not always! Your clients don’t need a Business plan to only receive files from you, or to collaborate with you on a personal, non-commercial project. For example, a client using Blip solely to receive final deliverables, like design mockups or completed videos, doesn’t need a Business plan. Similarly, a wedding couple working with you on their personal wedding video doesn’t require a Business plan.

However, if you and your client are both professionals or businesses collaborating on a commercial project via Blip—actively exchanging files—both of you should upgrade to the Business plan, at least for the duration of the project. This ensures access to a commercial license and the bandwidth necessary to complete the work efficiently.

We are actively exploring ways to simplify professional collaborations. If you’d like to manage clients or collaborators within your Business plan, please send us an email.

Blip isn’t a standalone app—it’s an internet utility. To keep Blip running, our team needs to maintain and scale server infrastructure, keep apps up-to-date across multiple operating systems, and provide ongoing user support. These efforts require effort, time, and money.

A one-time payment would not be sustainable to keep Blip running because it would limit our ability to maintain and improve it over time. Business customers value manageable costs, reliable apps, and hands-on support—all of which is better aligned with recurring payments.

Our plans are designed to match the value Blip delivers. You can subscribe to Blip Business for as long as it enhances your productivity, and cancel anytime if it’s no longer useful. And to give you flexibility, we offer both monthly and yearly plans.

Our goal is to provide a professional-grade tool at a price that’s accessible to creative businesses—whether you’re an independent or part of a team. We’ve spent a lot of time listening to our users to understand what you value and what makes sense for you.

When you compare Blip to existing industry tools designed for high-speed file transfers, you’ll find they often charge $150+ for every terabyte of data you send. It’s not uncommon to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars every month just on file transfers.

Blip takes a different approach. We heard you love the worry-free experience— no counting bytes, no unexpected bills. That’s why we’ve created a plan that offers unlimited sending at a fraction of the cost—ten times less than what similar professional-grade tools would cost you.

We think this is a fair value proposition, especially since Blip als integrates seamlessly with all your devices, making sending and receiving files seamless. The time you save with Blip can be spent creating, collaborating, or simply enjoying life with friends and family.

It’s hard to put a price on freedom and convenience. However, if you believe we should adjust it or rethink our model, email us. We’d love to hear what you think!

Absolutely! When you subscribe to the Business plan, you’ll receive a 14-day free trial. You can cancel at any time during the trial period without being charged. If you choose to continue, your subscription will begin automatically once the trial ends.
